Visa and passport
You do not need a visa to travel to Senegal, except for the residents of the following countries (Consult the table below). If you intend to stay in Senegal for more than 3 months, you will need to register with the local authorities to obtain a foreigner's card.
PROCEDURE FOR ENTERING SENEGAL
All travelers to Senegal must bring with them a valid passport and it must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Senegal
VACCINATIONS
> Some vaccines are recommended before traveling to Senegal such as: hepatitis A, hepatitis B, typhoid, cholera, yellow fever, rabies, meningitis and tetanus.
> Travelers should take antimalarials before, during and after travel to prevent malaria. Travelers should also take steps to avoid mosquito bites.

What funds to take with you?
The currency in Senegal is the CFA franc (XOF). Avoid exchanging large quantities of CFA francs for foreign currency elsewhere than at reputable exchange offices. ATMs are widespread and reliable in Dakar, but banking services are infrequent in the rest of the country and withdrawal limits can be quite low. Credit cards are accepted at large establishments that welcome tourists. A commission is often added for their use. However, you will still need cash. Taxi drivers, some travel agencies, small shops, markets, etc. will only accept cash.
What should I bring with me to Senegal?
- A photocopy of your passport – as it is always advisable to carry your ID with you
- Insurance – you are responsible for arranging your own travel coverage
- Credit Card – Visa, MasterCard, Amex and American Express
- Medical kit – always a good option in case
- Mosquito spray
